Obituary of Alice Desrocher

Alice (Lee) Julia Janavich Desrocher of Manchester, Connecticut died peacefully at Winterhaven Assisted Care of Charlottesville ,Virginia on September 13, 2008. Her only daughter Brenda Mary Welch of Charlottesville, Virginia and granddaughter Jennifer Courtenay Larsen were in attendance. Alice Julia Janavich was born in Springfield Massachusetts a few years after the turn of the twentieth century. She was the oldest daughter of Josephine Vinickas and Stanley Janavich who had immigrated to America from Lithuania. After the death of her mother, when Alice was 7, she took on the cared of her siblings until they were of age. She had a great love for her Roman Catholic faith, her family, and her many friends. She was an independent, outspoken woman who lived a private life of dignity and restraint. Funeral service will be held on Thursday (September 18th) at 10:30 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 at the Church of the Assumption Adams St. South, Manchester followed by interment in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill beside her husband Ernest who predeceased her in 1988.
