Massari, Virginia (Ginger) Matteis Virginia Massari passed away peacefully on August 5th, 2008 at the age of 85. She was born in Hartford, Connecticut on April 20th, 1923 and recently resided in Manchester, Connecticut. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Catherine Matteis. Ginger was the wife of the late Armand Massari and together they were the former owners of the Podunk Mill Restaurant in South Windsor known now as the Mill on the River. She leaves her son Douglas Luongo and Joyce Karolewicz of Dania Beach, Florida, daughter Kathi Cline and husband Jim of Phoenix, Arizona, and daughter Robin Ricci and Paul Bastone of South Windsor, Connecticut. She was recently predeceased by her loving grandson Douglas Luongo Jr. Ginger also leaves her loving grandchildren Brett Cline and wife Andrea of Acton, MA, Grant Cline and wife Arlene of Phoenix, Arizona, and Lauren Ricci and Taylor Ricci of South Windsor, Connecticut and Joseph and Margot, children of Joyce Karolewicz and several neices and nephews. She also leaves her brother Joseph Matteis and wife Anne of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, her sister Catherine Lifka and husband Ray of St. Louis, Missouri, and the late Dolores Kane of Windsor Locks, Connecticut. Ginger loved cooking, dancing, bocce, and playing cards. She was a member of the Red Hat Society of Manchester, the Manchester Senior Center and Bocce group, the Red Cross, the Church of the Assumption, and the AARP Chapter 1275. A special thanks to Robin Ricci and Paul Bastone, Brett and Andrea Cline, Douglas Luongo and Joyce Karolewicz, Catherine Kane, Tony Papa, Olga Lorentzen, and Thelma and Richard Dickerson for caring and making her life more comfortable. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday (August 9th) at 10 am at the Church of the Assumption 29 Adams Street South, Manchester followed by burial in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
