Genevieve "Jean" Pescik, 89, of South Windsor, formerly of Manchester, the wife of the late Edwin E. Pescik, died Monday (July 7, 2008) at Summerville in South Windsor. Jean enjoyed ice cream, going to the beach, swimming, or just splashing around in the pool. Her hobbies included reading, Scrabble, Jumble, and Word Search. For over 40 years she also played Bingo every Saturday night at the Army & Navy Club in Manchester. She loved being outdoors, going to picnics, watering flowers, and cleaning up the yard. In her years at Summerville, she would always be found sitting outside in a comfortable chair enjoying the warm morning sun. She made many new friends in her years at Summerville, where residents and staff all agreed she had the ability to make them laugh. She spent many years as a devoted grandma taking care of her five granddaughters as they were growing up. She is survived by her two sons and their families, Alan and Carol Pescik of Windsor, and their daughters Emily and Erika, and Michael and Fran Pescik of South Windsor, and their daughters Allison, Jennifer, and Elaine. She will be truly missed by her family and friends. Funeral service will be held on Friday July 11th at 10:15 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 am at St. James Church, 876 Main St., Manchester, followed by burial in St. James Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7.
