Obituary of Marjorie Tierney

Marjorie Tierney, of Bolton, died June 24, 2008. Daughter of the late Robert and Jean Tierney, she was born August 6, 1965, in Manchester, graduating from MHS in 1983. Marjorie went on to the University of Connecticut School of Nursing, and then to Yale University, where she earned her Master's and post-Master's Certificate in Nursing, specializing as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. To Marjorie, nursing was a true vocation, as she worked at the UConn Health Center, Memorial Sloan-Kettering in New York City, and until illness, as a hospitalist with the Eastern Connecticut Heath Network. She was the dear youngest sister of Michael, Maureen, and Marcia who survive her along with in-laws Karen Tierney and Kevin Looney, nephews Brendan Tierney, Danny Tierney and Robert Alex Looney, and nieces Laura Looney and Emily Tierney. Marjorie also leaves her two beloved cats, distinguished Jimmy and playful Nathan. Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center Street, Manchester. A funeral service will be held at the Bolton Congregational Church 228 Bolton Center Road at 11 a.m. on Friday, followed by burial at the Bolton Center Cemetery. Some may wish to wear a little blue, as a tribute to Marjorie's sparkling blue eyes and favorite color.
