Obituary of Antoinette Head
Antoinette "Nina" Head, 81, of Manchester passed away on June 24th at Hartford Hospital after a short illness.
The youngest of twelve children. She was born on September 19th, 1926 in Bronx, New York. She was married on April 11, 1948, to Francis Head Sr. (now deceased), before moving to Connecticut and settling in Manchester.
A strong woman, she managed to attend college, and graduate with honors, attaining an associates degree all while raising her six children alone. Working as a teachers aide she found herself representing the aides in many employment issues. She then wrote the original charter, and became the president of Connecticut's first Para-Professional Teachers Union. Meanwhile never sacrificing the values important in making her children whole. She'd planned many vacations, for her family and always saw they had the right values to prepare them for life.
She is survived by her six children; Steven August of North Carolina, Claudia Davis of Alabama, Joann Pomerleau of Manchester, Jonathan Head of Waterbury, Nancy Jo Heart of Florida, and Francis Head of Manchester. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She left her mark on the world and she will be dearly missed by all of us.
