Ida C. (Provencher) Cormier, 98, of Manchester the wife of 53 ½ years to the late Henry J. Cormier died Friday (May 9, 2008) at Manchester Manor. Born in New Bedford, MA she had lived in Manchester since 1941. She was a communicant of the Church of the Assumption, and formerly a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Ida was also very active with the Manchester Senior Citizens and the Director and Pianist for the Manchester Sunshine Group. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands Doris and Michael Kenny of Clermont, FL, Pauline and Robert Jones of Manchester, and Lorraine and Joe Sabatella of North Palm Beach, FL; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her son Roland and five siblings. Ida's family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of Manchester Manor for their loving care throughout the years. Funeral service will be held on Monday (May 12th) at 9:15 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at the Church of the Assumption, Adams Street South, Manchester followed by burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 4-8 pm.
