Obituary of Catherine Regan

Catherine M. (Kay) Regan, of Manchester, CT, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 10, 2008, at Woodlake at Tolland, Tolland, CT, after a brief illness. She was born in New York City, New York, daughter of the late Patrick and Delia Sullivan, and was predeceased by her husband Martin J. Regan, Jr. (d. 1969.) Kay was a resident of Manchester since 1951, and was retired from the Town of Vernon, CT, after 18 years of service. She was actively involved in numerous church and charitable organizations serving the community in Manchester throughout her life. For many years Kay volunteered at the Manchester Area Council of Church's Shepherd's Place Kitchen in Manchester. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed walking, and traveling along with supporting the arts as a subscriber to the Bushnell and the Connecticut Opera. She is survived by her sister, Eileen Mannix, of Medford Lakes, NJ; her six children, Michael J. Regan, of Mystic, CT; Sharon R. Matthews (William) of Boston, MA; Sheilagh J. Regan Kiarsis (Stephen Kiarsis) of Manchester, CT; David A. Regan, of Portland, OR; John F. Regan, of Manchester, CT; and Katherine R. Melnicki (James), and grandchildren Zachary R. and Andrew J. Melnicki, of Mercerville, NJ; sisters-in-law, Teresa K. Regan, of Florence, SC, and Helen Regan, of Harrisburg, PA.; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Regan family wishes to thank the staff of Woodlake at Tolland for their compassionate and exceptional care and comfort they provided Kay. Visiting hours will be held between 6 PM and 8 PM, Thursday, March 13, 2008, at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center Street, Manchester, CT. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 9:15 am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 AM, at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 896 Main Street, Manchester, CT, followed by burial at St. Bridget's Cemetery, Manchester.
