Obituary of Edward A. Kachik

Edward A. Kachik, 87, of Manchester, the husband of Norene Kachik died Monday (January 7, 2008) at Manchester Manor. Born in Clarence, PA he had received his B.S. in Metallurgy from Pennsylvania State University. Ed retired from the Dupont Company and later worked with the Materials Technology Institute of the Chemical Process Industries Inc. He had traveled extensively throughout his life having been to Europe, Canada, and much of the United States including most of the national parks where he loved to hike. Along with his passion for hiking Ed also loved photography. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Penn State Alumni Association, the American Society for Materials International, and the Church of the Assumption. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children Judith Martini and her husband John of Moodus, and James R. Kachik and his wife Barbara Schneider of Oakland, CA; his grandchildren Amanda Malachesky-Barber and her husband Drew of Petrolia, CA, and Michael Malachesky of Daly City, CA; one great-granddaughter Ella Barber; and his nephew Tim Kachik. He was predeceased by his first wife Jean Kachik, his daughter Suzanne Malachesky, his brother David J. Kachik and his sister, Sister Caroline Kachik. Funeral service will be held on Saturday (January 12th) at 10:30 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at the Church of the Assumption. Burial will be held on Monday (January 14th) at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery in Bellefonte, PA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9-10:30.
