Obituary of Albina Cierebiej

Albina "Babci" Cierebiej, 93, of Manchester, the husband of the late Piotr Cierebiej, died Wednesday (December 19, 2007) at Wethersfield Health Care Center. Born in Poland she was the daughter of the late Anastasia and Vincente Mazuk. She was a Polish survivor of the Soviet forced labor camps of World War II, resettling in the Middle East, East Africa, England and finally making her home in the United States in 1952. She was an incredible cook and immaculate homemaker. She would never let anyone leave her home hungry or empty handed. She enjoyed treating her friends and family to her delicious Polish food. She is survived by her granddaughters Barbara Wolk-Laniewski, Theresa Wolk-Laniewski, and Danuta Wolk-Laniewski, all of Manchester; her great granddaughter Alexandria McDowell of Manchester; her son-in-law Zenon Wolk-Laniewski of Manchester; her special friends, Krystyna Alesczyk, Helen Famulski, and Melanie Urbach and her caregiver, Beatrice Owusu. She was predeceased by her daughter Halina Wolk-Laniewski; and her siblings Jadwiga, Filomena, Franek and Ana. Funeral service will be held on Saturday (December 22nd) at 11 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am at St. James Church 896 Main St. Manchester followed by burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9-11 am.
