Obituary of Real Bourque

Réal (Ray) Bourque, 84, of Brooksville, Florida, beloved husband of Bernadette Bourque, died peacefully in his daughter's home in Manchester after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Canada, he had lived in Manchester prior to his retirement in 1986 as a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 478. During his career, he took great pride in his involvement in major construction projects in the greater Hartford area. Besides his loving wife Bernadette, he is survived by four sons and two daughters: Ray Bourque and his wife Vicki and their children Brendon and Claire of Tolland; John Bourque and his wife Laura of Tolland; Pierre Bourque and his wife Renate of Parrish, Florida and their sons, Darrell Bourque and his wife Celeste of Portland, Oregon, and Dr. Daniel Bourque and his friend Dr. Debby Ngo of San Diego, California; Christiane Oszurek and her husband Richard and their daughter, Michelle Gardella and her husband Tom of Tolland; André Bourque and his wife Joan of Lebanon and children, André Jr. and his fiancé Suzanne Schwarz of Springfield, MA, and Gabrielle of Windham; Helene Crispino and her husband Alec (Cris) and their daughters, Danielle Pierce and her husband Doug, and Alexis of Manchester. He was also blessed with a wonderful great-grandson, Braedon, son of Michelle and Tom Gardella. Réal was an avid sports fan who enjoyed baseball and hockey. He remained very active in his retirement, playing golf every day. He also enjoyed bowling and loved to throw a good game of horse-shoes. Additionally, he never missed the opportunity to gather with friends to play cards. He took great pride in his family and was always there to provide support in times of need. This great and wonderful husband, father and friend will be sorely missed. Calling hours for family and friends will be held Sunday, August 12 at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street in Manchester from 3PM to 7PM. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, August 13 at Saint Bridget Church, 80 Main Street in Manchester at 11AM. Memorial donations may be made to the North Central Hospice and Palliative Care, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066.
