Obituary of Maureen (McGuire) Carroll

Maureen McGuire Carroll, 76, a long-time resident of Manchester, CT, passed away on September 19, 2018 at Hartford Hospital. “Mo,” as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was born and raised in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of the late Arthur B. and Rowena (Smith) McGuire. She attended Nottingham High School in Syracuse, NY and the University of Bridgeport. In her youth, Maureen excelled at swimming, skiing, and steeplechase on her beloved horse, Red Raven.  Maureen was also an avid tennis player at the Glenbrooke Swim and Tennis Club in East Hartford, CT.  She was a member of the Irish American Home Society in Glastonbury, CT where she was known for her friendly conversations and infectious laughter. Maureen enjoyed careers in real estate and insurance prior to her retirement.  Maureen’s greatest love was spending time with her family, and is survived by Thomas J. Carroll, her loving husband of 52 years; her three sons, Michael P. Carroll of Manchester, CT, Thomas A. Carroll and wife Sara K. Carroll of Milford, CT, and James J. Carroll and wife Valerie J. Carroll of Hebron, CT; her grandchildren,  James P. Carroll, Maureen K. Carroll (“Little Mo”), and Fiona Claire Carroll; brother Arthur B. McGuire and sister Laure B. McGuire; and nieces and loved ones. She was predeceased by her grandson, Padraig Rian Carroll.

Calling hours will be held at John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester, CT on Sunday, September 23^rd from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. James Church 896 Main St. Manchester, CT on Monday, September 24^th at 10 A.M.
