Obituary of Robert B Wildermuth

Robert B. Wildermuth, 28, of Manchester CT passed away June 5, 2018 after an incredibly long and courageous battle with cancer. Born November 2, 1989 in Meriden, CT, Rob lived his life like every day was a gift. He was a 2007 graduate of Middletown High School and 2010 graduate of Middlesex Community College with a degree in Human Services.

Rob leaves behind his mother Debra Wildermuth and step father, Marc Deptula and his father Robert A. Wildermuth. He also leaves behind his sister, Jessica Anderson Kerelejza, brother-in-law Greg Kerelejza, and niece, Annaveigh Kerelejza; Aunts and Uncles DJ and Lynnora Salonia Beaulier, James & Vicky Salonia, TJ & Marianne Rossitto, Phil Salonia, Billy & Wendy Martindale, and cousins TJ Jr., Ryan, and Dylan Rossitto.

His husband, Eric Nosenzo, remained one of his best friends long after their separation. His current partner, David Basch, stuck by his side every step of the way, along with his dog, the little, but mighty companion, Brock Wildermuth, and an astronomical number of friends who loved him dearly.

Rob was a creative, funny and loving spirit. He knew the importance of friendship, and never ceased to show all his friends and family unconditional love. He volunteered many hours to the local LGBTQ+ non-profit organization OutCT and the Born This Way Fashion show that supports LGBTQ+ youth, helping to raise money through events for those in need. Rob offered his help where it was needed, often playing the role of photographer.

Rob loved Pokémon, especially Pokémon Go! He loved anything to do with Star Wars, Marvel Comics, and all things Disney. He was an avid supporter of love and might hold the record for most hashtags used! Music was a major theme in his life, and if there was a moment to be had, Rob had a playlist for the occasion. His passions brought so many people together, and he will forever be remembered as the epitome of love, support, and happiness.

“Life tips: Support others more. Be happy for others. Accept and appreciate if things don't go your way, there's usually a good reason for that and there's something else awaiting you. Don't sweat the petty things and certainly don't pet the sweaty things. Know fear, and learn to control it. Lastly make jokes during the hard times. Smiling will get you far.” – Rob Wildermuth 2017

Special thanks to the staff at Baystate Medical Center and Trinity Health Care for all the love and support they showed Rob through his treatments. Also, incredible gratitude to Michelle Gagnon who provided round-the-clock assistance to Rob and his family, plus an extra special thanks to a friend that no one could ever re-pay, James Brassard, who out of love alone, provided a place for Rob to call home in his final days with us.

A Celebration of Rob's Life will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 1 PM at O'Neills Brass Rail with a reception to follow; 52 Bank Street, New London, CT 06320.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation in Rob’s name to Sails Up 4 Cancer (SU4C.org) or OutCT (OutCT.org). The John F. Tierney Funeral Home had care of the arrangements. For online condolences, please visit www.tierneyfuneralhome.com
