Dorothy Tedford Nichols, age 84, died February 27, 2011, at Vernon Manor. She was born; raised, and resided in Manchester, CT. Dorothy was a key developer of the Fuller Brush Company's computer programming department in the 1960's. Predeceased by her husband Stanley Nichols, her devoted daughter, Brooke Newkirk, and her only sister, Connie O'Brien. She survived by two loving daughters, Donna Uriano and her husband Daniel, and Mary Jane Viara and her husband Bob, and her son-in-law Thomas Dekker. She leaves eight grand children, Chris Uriano and his wife Angela, Mara Dumond and her husband Steve, Danny Uriano and his wife Katie, Jennifer Rogers and her husband Tony, Ryan Newkirk and his wife Rebecca, and Andy, Eric, and Katie Viara, and three great grandchildren, Isabella, Jackson and Olivia Uriano. Dorothy leaves a niece and nephew, Connie and Richard O'Brien. She passed on to her girls a love for cooking, baking, gardening, and antiquing. We would like to express our gratitude to the loving staff on One East, they treated our mother with tolerance, dignity, and compassion. Funeral service will be held on Friday (March 4th) at 10:30 from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 am at St. James Church 896 Main St. Manchester, CT followed by burial in St. James Cemetery.
