Obituary of Mary Curtin

Mary V. (McDonnell) Curtin, 92, the wife of the late John G. Curtin died on Friday (February 25, 2011) at the Glastonbury Health Care Center. Mary was born in Manchester, the daughter of Patrick and Bridget (Conlon) McDonnell and had lived there all her life. She was formerly employed by the Hartford Insurance Co. and was a Gold Star Mother and a former member of the Ladies of St. James. She is survived by her children and their spouses Kathleen and Harry Sterling of East Lyme, Ellen and Paul Lombardi of Bolton and James and Carol Curtin of Bolton; her grandchildren Jeffrey Sterling, Kristine Sterling Klatt, John Ward, Anne Marie Ward, Jennifer Curtin, John Curtin and Rebecca Curtin; her sisters Rosalie Robbins of Bolton and Beatrice Moore of East Longmeadow, MA and several nieces and nephews. Mary was also predeceased by her son John Curtin, her daughter Arlene Ward, her brother Rev. James McDonnell and her sisters Evelyn Chartier, Joan Kelly and Patricia McCarthy. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday (3/1) at 10:30 from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 at the Church of the Assumption, Manchester with burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:00 - 10:30. Memorial donations may be made to the Mary Cheney Library 586 Main St. Manchester, CT 06040, in Mary's name.
