Mr. Maglio was my 6th grade teacher at Edgewood in 1978-79. I have remembered him fondly SO many times over the years, always thinking, "I must send him a note to tell him what a difference he made in my life." I finally searched online for him today, and was so incredibly sad to learn of his death last year. To this day, he remains one of the kindest, gentlest souls I've ever met. He was an amazing man and teacher, and I am so privileged to have known him. What a legacy he's left; I wish I had been able to tell him this personally. To Mrs. Maglio and his children: I hope you are comforted knowing how special he was to his students.

Loved being a part of the Forestville Indians when i was 10-12. Mr. Maglio was my assistant coach under Bob Watson and I had great memories being around all his boys. I remember Mr. Maglio as a calm understanding coach that would compliment all the players and build up peoples self esteem. He made little league fun and being 12 years old that is what life was about. My thoughts and prayers are with the whole Maglio family. JC Hopkins

My deepest sympathies to the family and everyone who knew him. He was a great person with the desire to help young kids succeed. I knew him during my days of playing Little League baseball with his boys. As a coach, he inspired you to do well by providing encouragement and a "you'll get 'em next time" attitude. I remember during one practice, I was playing third base which was not my normal position and he hit a hard ground ball to me which hit a bump and bounced over my glove into my eye. I took the hit "like a man" ha ha, but the look of sadness on his face for unintentionally causing me pain was what made me cry. He had a great soul, and even though I haven't seen him for close to 28 years, it is sad to know that he's not out there somewhere playing ball with his grandchildren – even the girls. He is gone, but not forgotten and remains alive in the memories of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May the good memories help sustain you through this difficult time. - Julie

At the end of second grade at Edgewood School, I remember learning that I'd be assigned to Mr. Maglio's third-grade classroom in the fall. I was a shy little girl back then and afraid of the prospect of having him as a teacher - he seemed so stern and serious! I couldn't have been more wrong. I came to adore him as a teacher, and that year was one of the most memorable and happiest years I spent in elementary school. Over the years, I've thought about Mr. Maglio often - and very fondly. He was so encouraging and motivating, and I know he must have helped to make many other students into the people they are today. My deepest condolences to his family.

I was privileged to have Mr. Maglio in 1974 at Stafford School. After having survived 3 old maid teachers with so-so grades, I received straight A's from Mr. Maglio. He was young, cool and best of all KIND. I developed a huge crush on him and still smile when I think of times spent in his classroom. I am sorry for the family's loss, but please know he touched many lives and will not be forgotten

I was not fortunate enough to have Nick as a teacher when I was a student at Edgewood like I always wanted (everyone wanted him as their teacher), but I was lucky enough to work with him when I joined the teaching staff. He left quite an impression on many children in this town and will be greatly missed. My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

Nick Maglio was an outstanding teacher when I worked with him at Edgewood School. He was a true gentleman who cared for and was dedicated to his classes. His warm smile always greeted his students each morning, his love of teaching encouraged his students to learn. Nick loved baseball and he was a genuine sports fan. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his family of whom he was extremely proud. John Reardon Principal Emeritus, Edgewood School

My father-in-law was a wonderful person. He treated me as though I was one of his own children. I will miss sharing information with him about my children (he loved hearing all about their days - nothing was too small to share). I am blessed to have known him and to be able to share my life with his son who gleaned so many of his traits. Rest in peace, Pop Pop (the name that his grandchildren used for him) - we will miss you so much.

My sincere condolences to the entire Maglio Family. Both of my sons (now aged 17& 21 ) had Mr. Maglio @ Edgewood. They absolutely adored him & loved the fact that he started each day with a joke or riddle. It was countless times those anecdotes made their way to our dinner table & provided lots of laughter & levity. He mentioned his family members often, always with much love & a big smile. (I remember his anticipation of summer vacations to be spent with his grandaughter). My family is grateful for the enrichment you brought to our lives; thank you, Mr. Maglio. In Sympathy, Mary-Ellen LeMere (Jake & Jared Steele)
