Obituary of Charles Tennyson

Charles (Chuck) Edward Tennyson Sr. of East Hartford, CT passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the age of 75. He was married to Barbara S. Tennyson. Chuck was the son of the late James V. Tennyson and Frances R. Nordgren. Chuck lived most of his early life in Rocky Hill, CT. He graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1953 and then joined the U.S. Air Force. He served with distinction in the U.S. Air Force for 26 years, spending 14 years overseas and retiring in 1979. While in the Air Force, he graduated from the Community College of the Air Force and St. Leo's University. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, he worked for Hamilton Sundstrand as a Supervisor in the Avionics Department for 8 years. He later moved to Ft. Myers, FL for 10 years and worked as a part-time tour guide in the winter vacation homes of Thomas A. Edison and Henry Ford. He then returned to East Hartford, CT in 1998. Chuck loved to fish and relished his dog Sleigh. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of 26 years, a daughter Katheryn A. Thomas of Lakewood WA, four sons Chuck and wife Donna-Marie Tennyson of Glastonbury CT, Daniel F. and wife Laura Kibbe of Willington CT, Gary J. Kibbe of Manchester CT and Rory A. and wife Lorri Kibbe of Athens, Maine. He is survived by 3 sisters, Jane Mantovani of North Port FL, Marlene Lanteign of Bloomfield CT and Joan and husband Joel Waterhouse of Windsor CT. He is survived by 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral service is private and at the convenience of the family. The John F. Tierney Funeral Home, Manchester has care of the arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to The Memorial Fund at First Church of Christ, 2183 Main Street, Glastonbury, CT 06033.
