Obituary of Clarence Johnson

Clarence A. "C.A." Johnson, 91, of Manchester, the husband of the late Mary "Molly" Johnson died Tuesday (January 4, 2011) at Rocky Hill Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Ashley Falls, MA, he lived in Manchester for over fifty years. C.A. was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, was a Purple Heart recipient and retired from SNET as a construction manager after many years of service. He was a long time communicant of St. Bridget Church, member of the Manchester Country Club and member of the Telephone Pioneers. He is survived by his children Karen Luby and her husband Thomas of Rocky Hill, Eric Johnson and his wife Nancy of Manchester, and Susan Longobardi and her husband Anthony of North Haven; his grandchildren Thomas Luby, Jason Luby, Jessica Lerario and her husband Robert, Matthew Luby and his wife Kerry Lynn, Brian Luby, Erik Johnson and his fiancée Denise, Gregory Johnson, Corinne Johnson, Kristin DeFrancesco and her husband Christopher and Jonathan Longobardi, and six great-grandchildren. Besides his wife he was predeceased by his grandson David John Longobardi and six siblings. He will always be remembered for his positive outlook and love of family. C.A.'s family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff at Rocky Hill Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation for their kind and dedicated care. Funeral service will be held on Friday (January 7th) at 10:15 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Bridget Church 80 Main St. Manchester followed by burial with military honors in St. James Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 pm. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
