Obituary of Francis Hope
Francis J. "Frank" Hope, 93, died unexpectedly on Wednesday (December 29, 2010) at his home in Manchester. He was born in Wethersfield the son of Joseph and Anne Hope and grew up there and later in life had lived in Tolland, Vernon and most recently in Manchester. Francis was a graduate of Trinity College, served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and retired from the Hartford Insurance Co. as their Chief Actuary. His true passion was playing golf which he especially enjoyed playing in CT and Venice, FL. Besides his parents, Fran was predeceased by his sisters Anne Golden, Kathleen Schweitzer and Margaret Vincent; his brother Duncan Hope and his brother-in-law and golfing buddy John J. Golden. He is survived by twelve loving nieces and nephews and his grand nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 (1/4) from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 at St. Bartholomew Church Ludlow Rd. Manchester with burial in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:30 - 10:30. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
