Obituary of Adeline Taricco

Adeline (Patta) Taricco died on December 16, 2010. She was born on February 5, 1912 in New York City. During her childhood she lived and was educated in the U.S. and Italy, becoming fluent in both English and Italian. She was often asked to translate papers and letters. She returned to New York City in 1930, the city she loved. Adeline married Joseph "Nino" Taricco, a master chef in 1932. They made their home in Manchester, CT In 1938, and raised their son, Alfred. The couple was known for their dancing skills, notably their performance of the Tango. Adeline was an accomplished seamstress and was known for her intricate crochet skills, making bedspreads, tablecloths, napkins and doilies. She was employed by Pioneer Parachute during World War II and later worked and retired from Traveler's Insurance Co. She frequently returned to New York, sharing the sights, sounds, museums and music of the city with her young son. Nino died in 1979, and she maintained her home independently in Manchester until 2006 when she became a resident of Vernon Manor health care facility. Adeline is survived by her son, Alfred Taricco, M.D., grandsons, Mark and Scott Taricco, and granddaughter, Laura Olsen. She also leaves great grandchildren, Stephanie Taricco, Elyse Bauman, Christopher and James Olsen, and a great, great granddaughter, Adeline Bauman, her namesake. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Pia Patta of Voghera, Italy. "Nonna" was loved and will be missed by all. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bridgets Church in Manchester on Monday (December 20), at 10 a.m. Dr. Taricco would like to thank the staff of Vernon Manor for their excellent nursing care and personal attention given to Adeline for the past four years.
