Caroline "Millie" McNamara, 94, loving wife and mother, died peacefully in her sleep at Vernon Manor on Wednesday December 8th. She was born February 11, 1916 in New London, CT and was one of 9 children of Joseph and Mary O'Loughlin Blais. She married Richard McNamara in 1940 and lived in Manchester most of her life. She worked at D&L Clothing Store in Manchester for many years, retired with her husband to Bradenton, FL in 1974 and then returned to Manchester in the early 80's. She was predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters and her husband of 61 years, "Mac." Millie is survived by her son Dick and his two sons Ryan and Devlin McNamara and her daughter Cheri Bertus and her husband Jon who was a very devoted son-in-law. Millie enjoyed crafts, knitting, cooking and baking and always made sure everyone around her was well fed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MACC (Manchester Area Conference of Churches) Food Pantry in her name. The family would like to thank the staff, nurses and aides at both Seabury Meadows in Bloomfield and at Vernon Manor for the kindness and love they showed our mom while she was dealing with Alzheimer's disease in the later years of her life. Calling hours will be held at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center Street Manchester on Monday December 13th from 4-6 pm.
