Obituary of Francis Maloney
Francis J. Maloney, 82, of Manchester the husband of 44 years to the late Kathleen F. Maloney died Tuesday (November 9, 2010) at Hartford Hospital. He was a 1953 graduate of St. Michael's College where he was very active with their alumni association and was US Navy veteran of WW II having been aboard the USS Wisconsin. Fran was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he was past Grand Knight, and was a member of the Manchester Lodge of Elks. He retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft after 34 years of service as a Field Administrator a job that allowed Fran to travel around the world. He is survived by his children Kathleen DeFranco and her husband Lawrence Sr. of Hebron, Maureen A. Maloney with whom he made his home, Francis Maloney and his wife Nancy of Ellington, and William Maloney and his wife Kathleen of Philadelphia; his grandchildren Erin Boberek and her husband Thomas of Enfield, Lawrence DeFranco Jr. and his wife Christine of Hingham, MA, Laura Preston and her husband Christopher of Chicago, Kelley Marie Maloney of Ellington, Francine Lee Maloney of Boston, Michael William Maloney of Ellington, Kyle Patrick Maloney of Philadelphia, Kara Lynn Maloney of Ellington and Nathan Richard Maloney of Ellington. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Eileen P. Foley of South Windsor, and Mary Rocha of Woburn, MA. Funeral service will be held on Saturday (November 13th) at 8:45 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St. Bridget Church 80 Main St. Manchester followed by burial in St. Bridget Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 pm.
