Obituary of Agnes Reardon

Agnes (Pongratz) Reardon, 98, the wife of the late James M. Reardon, former Manchester Chief of Police died on Friday (July 16, 2010). Agnes was born in Manchester the daughter of Stephen and Mary (Grosibel) Pongratz and had lived in Manchester for most of her life. She was a graduate of the Class of 1930, Manchester High School and was formerly employed as a secretary for the State of CT. Agnes had also been employed at Electric Boat in Groton and Moriarty Brothers of Manchester. She was a former member of the Ladies of Columbus and had been an active member of the craft club at St. James Church. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jean and John Kellogg of Manchester; her grandchildren Stacy Kellogg-Stove and her husband Matthew of Manchester and Brian Kellogg and his wife Stephanie Prevost of PA; her great grandchildren Riley Stove and Zoey Kellogg; her special nephew and godson and his family James and Meg Magee and their children Elizabeth and Sam of MA and her dear sister-in-law Rose Grakowsky and her husband Patrick of Manchester. Agnes was also predeceased by her brothers Stephen, Arthur and Joseph Pontgratz. Agnes's family would like to offer a special note of thanks to Betty Lou and Bert Reaviel for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Agnes. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 21, at 9:30 from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. James Church, Manchester with burial in St. James Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7. Memorial donations may be made to the Manchester Scholarship Foundation, 20 Hartford Rd., Manchester, CT 06040.
