Obituary of Eileen Dalton

Eileen C. Dalton, 95, of Manchester the wife of the late William M. Dalton passed away on Tuesday (June 22, 2010) at her home. She was born in Arlington, MA July 16, 1914, the daughter of the late Cornelius and Theresa Hickey Collins. She worked in the gas company in Arlington, the Federal Government in Rhode Island and at the Travelers in Hartford for many years. She belonged to AARP 604 and enjoyed her position as Treasurer. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her daughter Anne Dalton Male and her son-in-law William W. Male. She was also predeceased by her five siblings Cornelius Collins, Eugene Collins, Lawrence Collins, Leonard Collins, and Mary T. Gerrior. She is survived by her devoted daughter Mary T. Dalton, her son Robert W. Dalton and his companion Jane H. Woods, her grandchildren Christopher M., Aimee K., and Bryan T. Dalton; two great-grandchildren, Daisy L. Dalton and Zachary W. Dalton and a special "daughter" Sharon Tasker Dalton. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law Fran Collins of Shrewsbury, MA and Ethel Dalton of Concord, MA and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Vitas Hospice, their neighbors Mary Lou and Robert Kennedy, and friends Rosaleen and Paul Templeton for their help, kindness, support and compassion to Eileen. Funeral service will be held on Saturday (June 26th) at 8:45 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester, CT with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 at St. Bridget Church 80 Main St. Manchester, CT followed by burial at 1:30 pm at St. Bernard's Cemetery Concord, MA. Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 6-9. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
