I was shocked and saddened to hear of Sue's passing when I returned from a trip. I would have been honored to attend her service. I haven't really seen her in more than thirty five years, but I have such fond memories of her. We spent many a day riding the bus up to Hartford when we were innocent young teens and it was safe to do that, wandering around G. Fox's, Brown Thompson, and Constitution Plaza. We would always stop at Song Hays for wonton soup. Sue was always a lot of fun, so I was heartened to see that she never gave up that spirit in the passing years. My favorite memory of her is when we were students at Eastbury Elementary School and she had a horse and a pony in the meadow across the street from the school. She decided to teach me how to ride, so she put me on the pony. We were cantering along and I thought I was doing a great job as an equestrian, until the pony suddenly stopped mid-canter, bent over, and started noshing on some grass. I went flying over the pony's head, landed in the grass totally discombobulated, and Sue lost all control. She really did have a great laugh, even as a kid, but she also had a huge heart of gold and an innate kindness. She obviously touched a lot of hearts throughout her lifetime. I pray that in your moments of doubt and darkness, you remember her laugh, her sense of adventure and fun, and that life is better because she lived it. All the best, Sally Barton

What can I say ~ I will simply offer my sympathy and share in your sorrow over Susie's passing. It's times like this that really catch you off guard ~ a long time friend was ill and has passed and it's too late to tell them how much they meant to you... So I'll tell you guys and hope in her heart she knew. From the time I met you all (or should I say you took me and my family in) you have been an example of how a family loves and cares for each other. With food and laughter to spare - Enrico's was about love and family. From our road trips and wild times of the 70s (remember when you guys hid me and Karisti from the Sheriffs Deb?); to pretending we were all grown up in the 80s and the gambling trips to NJ and CT the last two decades; I knew I could contact Sue and she would be there for me at any time. I regret not having been there during her most difficult times ~ and that leaves me with much sadness and guilt. Just knowing I'll never hear that husky laugh again, share a naughty story, or take a look at life from Susie's perspective ~ which was always a little different and wonderful with no BS at all! She's gone too soon and it's just too sad! Please contact me if there is anything I can do to help. I love you all and hold you close in in my heart. Leigh (Sullivan Pierce Klemyk) Julian

Even though I have not been around these past years, Sue has never left my thoughts. She was and is one of my favorite people and one of my most cherished friends. I will miss her dearly, the long conversations, our gambling trips, our talks of our gambling accomplishments or near misses, going to OTB, Sue betting on the dogs and myself on the horses. She was greatly loved by many and by me who can not express how greatly she will be missed.
