Mary Jane Shannon, 67, of South Windsor the wife of the late John Edward Shannon died Sunday May 23, 2010 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. She retired from Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Co. after 25 years of service and was later self employed with her own day care service. Mary Jane was a wonderful and loving caregiver to all who knew her including her children, grandchildren, sisters, brother, friends, and day care children and parents. She will be greatly missed and remembered in the many lives that she touched. In her last months she fought her illness with bravery, courage and strength. She is survived by her daughters, Jean Chasse and her husband Daniel of Coventry, Maureen Shannon of Vernon, and Caryn Lang and her husband Jason of Manchester; and her beloved grandchildren, Brytnie, Kaitlyn, Jordan, Brianna, and Kayla. She is also survived by her siblings Rose Marie Hudson and her husband Jim of Georgia, Charles Derminer and his wife Joyce of Ohio, and Helen Gormont and her husband Bill of New York; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Jenny Cale. Funeral service will be held on Saturday (May 29th) at 9:15 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at the Church of the Assumption 27 Adams St. South, Manchester followed by burial in St. James Cemetery.
