Obituary of Mary Forman

Mary A. (Marek) Forman, 96, of Manchester, wife of the late Harry Forman, died on Wednesday (May 19, 2010) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in Unionville, she lived in Manchester for over sixty-five years. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Marek Safcak. Mary had volunteered at the MACC soup kitchen for fifteen years and in March of this year received recognition for her service as being the oldest volunteer. She spent several years listening to children read at Highland Park School where her daughter teaches. She was an avid fan of both UCONN Women's Basketball and the Red Sox. Mary is survived by her children David Forman and his wife Peggy and Nola Barrett and her husband Rick all of Manchester; her granddaughters Captain Jessica Forman of Fort Lewis, WA, Kara Forman of Manchester, Marissa Barrett and special friend Steve Ames of Andover, MA and Leslie Barrett of Manchester. She is also survived by her sisters, Anna Wieczorek and Peggy Stevens, both of Unionville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Monday (May 24th) at 9:15am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. James Church, 896 Main St. Manchester followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Unionville.
