Obituary of Joan Hunt

Joan Elizabeth Hunt, 74, died on Friday, April 9 at St. Mary's Home, West Hartford. Daughter of Ozro Harold Hunt and Katherine (Brenneis) Hunt, she was born in Waterbury, CT and grew up in Washington D.C. In 1958 she returned to Connecticut to enter the Daughters of the Holy Spirit, where she served for 32 years before leaving the Congregation. After the death of her mother and her father's second wife, Mary (Brenneis) Hunt, she moved to Manchester, CT with her father who was 95. Joan became involved in her parish, Assumption: active in Small Christian Community, teaching catechism, serving on the Parish Council. Member of several writing groups, she also won numerous awards. Predeceased by her brother Louis (1937) and her father (1991) she is survived by her cousin Marion Kingsbury and other Brenneis and Hunt cousins across the country as well as many dear friends, including John Ouellette, Sallie D'Attilio, Loretta Watts and Richard Lyman. With special gratitude to the staff of the Callahan Unit, St. Mary's Home and Masonicare Hospice, for their excellent care. Calling hours will be held at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester, CT on Sunday April 11th from 3-6 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at the Church of the Assumption 29 South Adams Street, Manchester, CT on Monday April 12th at 10 am. Burial will be with her brother, in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury, CT on Monday April 12th at 2 pm.
