Obituary of Gerald Tortolini
Gerald Joseph Tortolini died from severe trauma suffered in a car accident that occurred on February 21, 2010, at the age of 65. A native of northeastern Massachusetts, Gerry graduated from Lynn English High School and joined the Navy Reserves. He began his career in the G.E. Apprentice program and spent the next forty years of his life working in various areas of the jet engine manufacturing business. A beloved son of Blanche I. and Henry A. Tortolini, both deceased, he is survived by two children, daughter Diana Tortolini of Waltham and son David Tortolini of Quincy. Also surviving are his older sister and brother, Joyce Pohlmeyer of Lynn, and John Tortolini of Lynn, and his younger brother Peter Tortolini of Virginia Beach, VA. Uncle to several nephews and cousin to many in a large extended family, Gerry was best known for his wit and contagious affability. An avid gardener, fisherman, cook and at-home inventor, he thought he played a mean game of poker (but was much better at cribbage) and tenaciously dispensed advice on all matters great and small. He is deeply loved and missed. Visiting hours will be from 2 - 5 p.m. at John F. Tierney Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at the same location, 219 West Center St., Manchester, CT 06040. Donations in Gerry's name may be made to the Civil Air Patrol at www.civilairpatrolfoundation.com.
