She sat with us and listened to our stories, she read to us and played games and taught us about the importance of being good to people. She made us feel important, and she made everyone she touched feel important as well. She taught us how to appreciate the little things in life like gardening, knitting mittens and feeding the birds. Great Gram was a sweet, kind and gentle person and we will miss her dearly. The family would like to extend their gracious thanks to the staff of Manchester Memorial Hospital and East Hartford Health and Rehabilitation. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations in Mabel's name can be made to the American Cancer Society. The John F. Tierney Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. For online condolences please visit www.tierneyfuneralhome.com.
