Obituary of George Maneggia

George Anthony Maneggia, 83, a longtime resident of Bolton, beloved husband of 59 years to L. Margaret (Wilson) Maneggia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday December 26, 2009. He was born February 11, 1926 in Manchester son of the late Anthony and Marie "Mamie" Maneggia. George was a proud US Army Veteran of WW II. He worked as a brick mason for the John Ponticelli & Son Co. and Andrew Ansaldi Construction Co. He was an avid sportsman that enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and feeding the many species of birds in the backyard. As a teen and young adult he played in local baseball leagues. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the UConn Huskies Basketball teams. George was a longtime member of St. Maurice Church as an usher and former trustee. George especially loved his years and membership in the Manchester Coon and Fox Club. He was a man of great faith and loved family, friends, and his country. Besides his wife, Margaret, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Sharon and David Woodward, his daughter and daughter-in-law Patricia Maneggia and Yolanda Jenkins, his sister Helen Harrington, his granddaughter Christine St. Laurent and her husband Thomas St. Laurent, his granddaughter Karen Woodward and her boyfriend Travis Drudi, his great-grandsons Caiden and Brodie St. Laurent. He also leaves his sister-in-law Joyce Bachl and her husband Edward and his Aunt Virginia Ierardi and a host of beloved extended family members and devoted friends. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff from St. Francis Hospital for their love, care and respect. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday (Dec. 30, 2009) at 11:00 am at St. Maurice Church 32 Hebron Road, Bolton. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manchester with full military honors. Family and friends may call on Tuesday at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center Street Manchester from 4-8 pm.
