Rose Marie (Buck) Pillard, of Tolland, beloved wife for 55 years of Charles Robert "Bud" Pillard, died suddenly after a brief illness, on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at Rockville General Hospital. She was born in Cradock, Va., on Aug. 11, 1934, a daughter to the late William Shaw and Mary Elizabeth (Curling) Buck. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her seven children, Linda Esber, and her husband, Jon, of Sarasota, Fla., Debbie Kim Ferguson, and her partner, George Lopiano, of Manchester, Tami Pugrab, and her husband, Larry, of Ellington, William "Charles" Pillard, and his wife, Sandy, of Tolland, Robert Shaw Pillard of Manchester, Loreen Lundeen Downham, and her husband, Dennis, of Manchester, and Ann Toper, and her husband, Gary, of West Hartford. Rose is also survived by her 19 treasured grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, William, and his wife, Betty; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, James. Rose will be remembered as a dedicated wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was very proud of her family. She enjoyed her flower gardens and being outdoors. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Rockville Hospital and the EMT's who tended to her. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard's Terrace, Rockville. Burial will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester.
