Obituary of Joan Humphrey

Joan Lynch Humphrey, 83, of Glastonbury entered her eternal rest Friday November 6. She was predeceased by her father Daniel F. Lynch and her mother Helen M. Begley of County Kerry, Ireland. She is survived by her daughter Marian T. Humphrey and her partner Joyce Tischer of Alexandria, VA, her son Daniel P. Humphrey and his wife Colleen of Glastonbury and her daughter Joan (Siobhan) and her husband John T. McMahon of Manchester. She is also survived by her beloved grandsons Sean D. and Ryan J. Humphrey, her aunts Norah Guay of Old Saybrook and Angie O'Keefe of Wethersfield as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Joan will be remembered as a loving mother who valued her faith, the love of family and the kindness of friends. She appreciated a quick wit, a hearty laugh and enjoyed all types of music, especially Irish. She had a sense and flair for fashion. Joan was a graduate of Weaver High School and Hillyer College. She was proud of her country and those who served. She was a long lasting dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and the American Legion. Calling hours will be held on Monday (November 9th) from 4-8 at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:15 am from the funeral home with a Mass of the Resurrection celebrated at Saint James Church 896 Main St. Manchester at 12:00 pm followed by burial in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery.
