Richard (Dick) P. Cobb, Jr., 59, of Colchester and former resident of Manchester, died peacefully on Monday (September 21, 2009) at Backus Hospital after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born in Manchester, CT, the son of the late Richard and Bernice Cobb. He was a graduate of Manchester High School and did his undergraduate and post-graduate studies at the University of Connecticut. He is survived by his wife Dawn; his children Lauren, Erika and Dylan. He also leaves two sisters: Karel Banks and Dorothy Cannon and one brother: Robert Cobb. He is also survived by his in-laws, Jim and Carol Clark, a number of brothers and sisters-in-law, a host of cousins, golf and fishing buddies, friends and co-workers. The family would like to thank the staff of the A2 Cancer Ward at Backus Hospital for taking such wonderful care of Richard. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Friday, September 25, 2009 at The John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester from 3:00 to 5:00pm with funeral services to be held at 5:00 p.m. A private burial ceremony will be held at a later date.
