Obituary of Sheila O. Chemerka

Sheila O'Neill Chemerka, died peacefully surrounded by her family on January 22, 2018 at the age of 83. Sheila is survived by her children Lynn Shea and husband Eddie, of Willington, CT, Rusty Chemerka and wife Bonnie, of Willington, CT, Michael Chemerka and wife Carolyn and children Kristin (husband Matt) and Mike (fiance Morgan), of Andover, CT, Chris Chemerka and son Mitchell Minutillo, of Bolton, CT, Karen Picard and husband Mark and daughter Alexandra, of Bolton, CT and other special grandchildren Steven, Kyle and Marisa Shea, and Jeff and Brian Lukas and Josie Picard. She is also survived by her siblings Patricia Billington and husband Eddie of Danielson, CT, Peggy Heon of Chattanooga, TN, John O'Neill of Pocatello, ID, Tom and Denise O'Neill of Danielson, CT and several nieces and nephews and many cousins in Portadown County Armagh Northern Ireland and in Glasgow, Scotland. In addition she Leaves her God Children Eddie Billington III, Shari Possum Beaupre, Kelly O'Neill Vollers, Kathy O'Neill Shakir; her dear friends, Elaine Kirko, Terry Sirois, Letitia Reopell, Thelma Kennedy, Joan McKiernan and her first friend Irene Koistinea and all her friends at the Bolton Senior Center. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Jerry Chemerka, brother Raymond O'Neill, Old Saybrook, CT, parents Thomas and Peggy O'Neill of Manchester, CT, Aunt Kitty and Uncle Luke Deane of Rogers, CT; two best friends, Barbara Possum (Vernon) and Lois Reopell (Bolton). Sheila was born on March 29, 1934 in Manchester CT, but also lived in Rogers, CT for many years as a child. She graduated in 1952 from Manchester High School. Sheila worked for SNET for 25 years and retired in 1989. She was a Bolton resident for the last 59 years. She was a communicant at St Maurice Catholic Church in Bolton, CT, and a participant of the Share and Care program of the church, a member of the Bolton Seniors and the Telephone Pioneers, and volunteered at Manchester Memorial Hospital for many years. Sheila most enjoyed time with family and friends and loved to dance, see movies and watch UCONN basketball. Sheila will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, wit, smile and willingness to always lend a helping hand especially to her family who she coveted like a mama bear. Funeral service will be held on Thursday (January 25th) at 10:00 a.m. from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Maurice Church 32 Hebron Road Bolton, CT. Family and friends may call at the John F.
