Daniel F. Reale Sr., 76, of Manchester passed away Monday, (September 21, 2009) at his residence. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, but was a lifelong resident of Manchester. He was a graduate of Hilliard College and the University of Hartford. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy. Dan began an early career as a meat cutter and manager at Popular Food Markets but was best known as the Broker/Owner of Century 21 Reale Realtors for over 40 years. His reputation as a man of honesty and integrity preceded him. He was a member of many service organizations including the Connecticut Association of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors and served as President of the Tri- County Board of Realtors. He was very proud of being elected The Realtor of the Year in 1984 and again in 2007. He was a long time Manchester Rotarian serving the town of Manchester and the State of Connecticut honorably. Dan was a member and past Director of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce and a chairman for the United Way Campaign. Dan is survived by his loving wife, Mary Kohlman-Reale. In addition, he also leaves his son, Daniel F. Reale, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Michele of Manchester; his daughter, Denise Reale-Eskandani of Vernon; two step-sons, Garth and his wife Andrea, and Clay Kohlman, and six grandchildren, Travis, Tembra and Tylee Reale, Aryana Eskandani, Sean and Lili Kohlman, and a brother, Steven Reale and sister-in-law, Marie of El Dorado Hills, CA. Visiting hours will be held TODAY, September 24, from 4-8 p.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street in Manchester. A celebration of his life will be held Friday at Noon at Saint James Church, 896 Main Street, Manchester followed by burial, with full Military Honors, in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 20 Batterson Park Road, Farmington, CT.
