Rose O. Castelluccio, 91, of Manchester, CT and the wife of the late William Castelluccio died Tuesday April 7, 2009 at Manchester Manor. Born in Manchester, CT, she was the daughter of Michael and Nancy (Battaglia) Orfitelli, founders of Royal Ice Cream. Rose was formerly employed by Travelers Insurance Co. before retiring as the executive secretary for the vice president of Heublein, Inc. in Farmington. She is survived by her sister Ida Lane of Flagstaff, AZ , sisters-in-law Jeanette and Ethel Orfitelli of Manchester, brother-in-law John Leonowicz of Largo, FL and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by her sisters Mary Leonowicz and Barbara Petticord, and her brothers Harold, Joseph, Michael, and Peter Orfitelli. Rose embraced life with a joy that inspired all who knew her. She made lifelong friends wherever she traveled, especially her beloved Watch Hill, RI. Her love of children, the arts, dancing, playing the piano, and most of all, her unfailing devotion to the happiness of her family were what made her so special. Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester on Monday evening from 6-8 pm, April 13th. A Funeral procession and service will be held Tuesday, April 14th, at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. James Church, 896 Main Street, Manchester, followed by burial in St. James Cemetery.
