Obituary of Lottie Roy

Lottie (Wanagel) Roy, 86, of Manchester, beloved wife of George J. Roy, passed away on March 29, 2009 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Lottie was born in Lisbon, CT on August 27, 1922 the daughter of the late Emily and Joseph Wanagel. Lottie was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy, received her Bachelor's Degree at Colby College and her Master's Degree from the University of Connecticut. Before retiring she was a teacher for over thirty years, primarily in the Coventry school system. She also was a talented craftsperson. Besides her husband Lottie is survived by two daughters Sr. M. Clare Roy, of the Missionaries of Charity and Dr. Christine Suurtamm of Ottawa, Canada; two granddaughters Karen Emily Suurtamm of Toronto, Canada and Lisa Suurtamm of St. Catherine's, Canada and her brother Robert Wanagel of Andover. Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 at St. Bartholomew Church Ludlow Rd. Manchester followed by burial in St. James Cemetery. Lottie's family would like to offer a special note of thanks to the nursing staff at Fenwood Manor, Manchester, the nursing staff of the East Wing at Manchester Memorial Hospital and the North Central Hospice for making Lottie's final days more comfortable. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Missionaries of Charity 335 East 145th St. Bronx, NY 10451.
