Dorothy (Pinney) Lavallee, 88, of Bolton, Ct passed away March 21, 2009 at Manchester Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born at home in Andover, CT on January 5, 1921, daughter of the late Arthur and Hazel (Rose) Pinney. She graduated from Windham High School, class of 1937. She married and raised five children. She was employed many years at Pratt & Whitney and became good friends with her co-worker and neighbor, Larry Briggs, who loved and cared for her like a son. After retiring, she worked until her early eighties for Dr. Fred Spalding as a dental assistant. She leaves behind four daughters: Beverly Sparks, Janice and husband Joe Diminico, April Hescock all of Manchester,CT, and Jeanine Lavallee of Willimantic, CT. One son: Raymond and wife Carol Lavallee of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Fourteen grandchildren: Paula Ferguson, Jerry O'Brien, Amanda Sparks(predeceased), Jon Sparks, Raymond A. Lavallee(predeceased), Russell Lavallee, Heather Snell, Laura Diminico, Erika Allen, Emily-Ann Hescock, Marsha, Darcy and Debbie Lavallee. Nine greatgrand-children: John and Emma Ferguson, Brendan O'Brien, Riley Sparks, Erik and Anna Lavallee, Julia Snell, Elizabeth Allen and Kimberly Lavallee. She also leaves behind her sisters Gladys Castagna, Ida and (brother-in-law) Ramon Campbell, and a brother Arthur Pinney, Jr. She was predeceased by a sister Eleanor Maloney and brother William Pinney. She had many nieces, nephews and friends. She loved children and will be greatly missed by all. She was a caring person who never missed remembering birthdays or special occasions, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed working outside in her flower beds, dancing, baking, playing cards and handwork, winning many blue ribbons at the Hebron Harvest Fair. She took great pride in her appearance which led to a lifelong friendship with her hairdresser Corrine DeLucco. Calling hours will be held at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St, Manchester, CT on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 from 5 to 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held at the First Congregational Church of Andover, Route 6, Andover, CT on Thursday March 26, 2009 at 10AM. Burial will follow at Townsend Cemetery in Andover, CT. Following the services, a luncheon buffet will be held at Andover Congregational Church for friends and family to mingle for a celebration and remembrance of Dorothy's life.
